Shea Butter

Shea butter, or Vitellaria paradoxa, grows Africa from Senegal to the Sudan/Ethiopian border. The shea tree is able to survive through the seasonal drought due to an extensive root system.

Shea is widely known to most people. Therapeutically, Shea is said to be an emollient, antioxidant, anti-irritant and an anti-inflammatory. Prevents dryness and protects the skin from the heat, cold and wind. It is also said to improve elasticity of the skin, moisturizing and protects from UV rays. Shea can be used for Eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. It is helpful for dry, cracked and irritated skin and also for reducing premature skin aging.
